POSTMODS
Scooter Club

The PostMods Scooter Club is a social club based in California’s Wine Country with members throughout the Bay Area. We are an all-inclusive scooter club (vintage and moderns welcome) whose focus is on building a tight-knit community of safe and connected fellow riders.

Both young and the young-at-heart are encouraged to join our social club!

MEET THE OFFICERS

  • GARY GUTIERREZ

    PRESIDENT (Postmodster General)

Gary has been riding scooters since 2009. His first introduction to scootering was a Genuine Buddy 125 scooter which he rode to save gas money on his commute to work in Santa Rosa. After a couple of years, he wanted a scooter that he could ride safely at freeway speed, so he moved up to a Kymco 250. However, in 2016 he wanted even more freeway speed, power, and traveling comfort so he upgraded to his current scooter a 2017 Suzuki Burgman 400.

His first ride with the PostMods was to Post Reyes Station in Marin where his daughter joined him for a fun filled ride through the Sonoma and Marin backroads on a beautiful warm weather day to enjoy pizza and meet fellow riders. He has been riding with the PostMods for several years now and been an active member of the PostMods Steering Committee. His enjoys the incredible PostMods Scooter community and exploring the backroads of Sonoma, Napa, and Marin. As the PostMods president, his goal is to support new and veteran scooter riders by creating a safe, fun filled scooter community where riders of all levels can ride safely, explore our wonderful county, and share good times and camaraderie.

  • KIRSTEN SUPNET

    VICE PRESIDENT

Kirsten & her husband Phillip have been EXTREMELY ACTIVE club members since joining the PostMods in 2019. Kirsten's a "no BS" straight shooter & will be a positive agent for change while in office! Since winning last year's club raffle for a brand new Vespa GTS300 (His name is Bruce, made famous in August's Scootering magazine out of the UK!)

  • PETE SURBER

DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP AND RECRUITMENT, PRESIDENT (PRO TEM),

Pete has been scootering since 2007 when, as an architect recently transplanted from upstate New York, he purchased his first Vespa the week he moved to SF.

He’s been selling the scootering lifestyle since 2010 & helped co-found the PostMods in 2015. If he had to pick just one, his very favorite ride is winding along the grapevines on West Dry Creek Road. Or west outta Petaluma to the Marshall Store for oysters. Perhaps along Trinity Road to Oakville Grocery for a scone? St. Helena Road is definitely on the top 5 list...

  • J.J. STENERSON

    FIELD MARSHAL

J.J. has been riding scooters since 2018 when his daughter introduced him to a Genuine Buddy 170i scooter. He had so much fun riding hers that he had to get his own Buddy. The first year he had his scooter he put 5,000 miles on it. After that he decided he needed a larger scooter to expand his rides. J.J. got bitten by the scootering bug hard. He now owns a 1963 Vespa (to go on vintage scooter rides), a 1980 P200, a 2005 ET4 and 2009 GTS.

His first ride with the PostMods was his favorite because it showed him that he was not limited to riding around Santa Rosa. That’s when his love of scootering took off. He became involved with the club in 2019 and became the treasurer in 2020. He feels this club is important to foster the growth of the scooter community. He wants people to have the same chance and experience he had with a scooter in a safe environment. Scooters can be used for more than just a quick trip to the grocery store.

J.J. remembers what it was like when he first started and having that feeling of being unsure of what he was doing: can he keep up with the other riders, what if he breaks down, what if he gives the wrong hand or foot signal? Because of the PostMods club, he now feels confident riding his scooter everywhere day or night.

  • JAKE MORE

    COMMUNICATIONS CZAR

Jake got his first taste of the scootering lifestyle all the way back in 1984, when his family purchased a Honda Elite 125. He used that scooter almost everyday to visit friends around town, until one of his friends borrowed it and drove it directly into a tree. The friend was fine, but the Honda was not. It was decided at that point, perhaps no more scooters for the teenagers!!

  • NATHAN KINZEL

    SECRETARY

Nathan recently embraced the exhilarating world of scootering, starting his journey with a 2015 150 Vespa Sprint acquired in 2022. Within the initial year, he clocked over 6000 miles on his Vespa. His profession, involving extensive travel across Sonoma and neighboring counties, necessitated a more robust ride. Consequently, in 2023, Nathan expanded his collection with a BV 350.

Whether for work or leisure, Nathan can be found riding almost daily. Surprisingly, many are unaware of his ownership of a car until the rainy season arrives.

A retired Coast Guardsman, Nathan now thrives as a sales representative at Bartholomew Estate Winery.

  • MICHELLE WILHOYTE

    TREASURER

Michelle is so new to the position, she hasn’t even filled out her own description yet! Michelle, if you’re reading this, HR wants a word with you.
